Logan's new toy

Since we would only be seeing Justin's family at Thanksgiving this year, we celebrated Christmas also. Here are a couple of Logan's gifts. He got a froggie hooded towel.

And a Bounce and Spin horse. It connects to the TV also. We haven't tried that part yet since I don't have the right batteries. But, he still enjoys bouncing on it.

The next generation of iPhone users?

Logan figured out long ago how to turn on my iPhone - just push the round button at the bottom of the phone. Sometimes he could also slide the bar at the bottom to actually get to the apps. Usually it was just coincidence that he could slide it, though. Today, he mastered that. And also figured out how to "search" my phone. Here's a short video with his demonstration. The next one is the first one I took, but it's a minute and a half and not everyone is as interested as I am - so I'm posting both for you to choose.

Hanging with Jabin

I watched Jabin and Jackson last week while Callie had some things to do. Before I started filming this, Logan and Jabin were dancing to the music. You'll notice that as soon as Jabin notices I was filming, he stops dancing and slyly watches to see when I'm going to stop filming! I wanted to get them dancing together, but I think Jabin's expressions are so classic that I wanted to post it anyway.

Halloween

Logan was an elephant for Halloween. He thought it was funny to "eat" his trunk.

Isn't he cute?!?!? Logan's friend Selah came to our neighborhood BBQ (she just lives 2 streets over). She was a ladybug.Selah's brother, Moses, was a monkey
Callie came with her boys - Jabin (dressed as Larry the Cucumber) and Jackson (dressed as Bob the Tomato)

Desert Museum

On Halloween morning, we went to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. It's a great place to walk around and see all of the wildlife the Sonoran Desert has to offer. It was Logan's first time being able to walk while we were out somewhere. It was also the first time he kept his sunglasses on. I've tried for a few months to get him to wear them, but he always takes them off. For some reason that day he left them on when he was out in the sun. Even when I'd take them off to go inside, he still left them on when we were back outside.

Logan loved the area "By the River". It had fish, tadpoles, and frogs. He loved watching them all swim.

When a family with some girls came to the area, Logan showed the girls all of the fish and tadpoles. It was so cute. No one knew what he was saying, but he was pointing and telling them all about them!

On the way out, he got to pet some bronze javelinas.

Walking at last!

I finally took some video of Logan walking. In a matter of a few days he has gone from walking when we prompt him to, to doing it all on his own (not even wanting to hold our hands), to trying to run around the house. I thought it was at least supposed to be a few weeks, if not a couple months before the running began. And, since, he did it all on his own time (like everything else he does), he doesn't fall much at all - he's got really good balance. He's a bit like his Momma - a perfectionist.

Halloween and Family Portraits

We went to JC Penney's (again) for some more portraits. Our friend Stacey is working there (it was a surprise to me when I showed up). So, she took the pictures. I've realized the more mobile the child is, the harder it is to get good pictures. But, these ones still turned out pretty cute. He's going to be an elephant for Halloween. Since I already had the costume, I decided to get some pictures of him in it.
In other news, he took his first steps a little over a week ago. He was walking back and forth between Justin and I - up to 6 steps at a time. I've tried since then to get it on film, but he refuses to walk between us any more. I assume one day he'll just start back up again and take off around the house. I guess I'll have to wait until then to get it on film.

The first art project

I gave Logan a paper and some crayons the other day and he enjoyed drawing. Since it's the first (of I'm sure MANY), I decided to scan it in and share it with you. Plus, then I don't have to keep the original paper :) I'm sure only I (and maybe the grandparents) will appreciate, but that's okay :)

Logan's ABC's

So, Logan's got a few ABC books that he's really starting to like. Multiple times daily he will bring one specifically to me to read. Last week I decided to see if he would repeat any of the letters. Since then we've been trying to get it on video, but to no avail. Yesterday we finally got a good one on video, but after 3 hours of "uploading", still nothing was happening. So, we recorded another one on our regular camera. The quality is not nearly as good, nor was Logan performing at his peak, but at least you can get the idea :)

Random Pictures

Here are some random pictures that don't really fit into a post by themselves.

Logan's new push toy. The other one he has isn't quite sturdy enough for him yet. Although when he becomes more balanced on his own, I'm sure he'll be pushing it all over the house.

Yeah, that's right...I'm a big boy and I know it!

His first teeth. I finally got a picture of them. He also has the bottom 2 teeth, but I don't know if I'll be able to get a good enough picture of all 4.

Finally crawling

In the middle of July, Logan finally decided to crawl on all fours. Actually, I'm quite surprised since he had the army crawl down pat. But, I'm proud of him for trying something new! Here are a couple pictures of him crawling after his Lil' People dumptruck that Jabin got him for his birthday.

4th of July

For the 4th of July, we stayed at my parents' house. We didn't do a whole lot, but it was a nice time to just relax. Logan sitting on Papa's lap playing with the remoteLogan loves to crawl through my parents' coffee tableThis is also when he was getting good at pulling himself up on furniture

Time to get back on track

Well, it's been over a month since I posted anything here! I'm going to try to get back on track. At the end of July, we went to San Diego for a few days. Stacey and Chad flew in from Minnesota along with Justin's cousin Steven coming from Texas. The first day we went down to La Jolla to meet Chad and Stacey and head on down to La Jolla cove. The next day, Justin, Chad, and Rick went fishing while Logan, Stacey, Mary, and I went shopping!!! The third day included Sea World - which is one of my favorite places. On the last day we went back down to La Jolla to the beach where Justin's cousin Jenelle and her family met us.

Family Photo - not a great one, but a passerby took it, so I guess I can't complain.

Logan's 1 year pictures

I went to JC Penney's again for Logan's 1 year pictures. The did another fabulous job. Logan hadn't had a nap in the morning so he was cranky and cried through a lot of the photos, but again, you can't tell!

This is my absolute favorite!!! It's the same as the one above it, but in Sepia tones. It's so precious.

Justin calls this "an unhealthy relationship between a boy and his duck". But, Logan always gives his duck a kiss in the bathtub, so I told him to kiss this ducky too and he obeyed!

These last 2 pictures show off his newer developments - pulling himself up and crawling on all fours (instead of his army crawl!).
