5 months old - and sitting up!

Logan turned 5 months today. He's been working on sitting up for a couple weeks, but he was not really interested in doing it on his own, without support. Yesterday morning, I tried again, with his toy in front of him. He sat there long enough for me to take a few pictures. Probably a minute or so! This morning I took a few more pictures of him sitting up. Before I know it, he'll be crawling, then walking, then running. I'm going to try to enjoy every moment of him not being so mobile!!!

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Justin's sister (Stacey) and her husband (Chad). We pick them up from the airport in a couple hours. They have not met Logan yet, although they've seen plenty of pictures and we've webcammed a few times. Justin's parents will be here later this afternoon, and then my parents and possibly my grandpa will be here for Thanksgiving tomorrow. We're looking forward to a fun time with lots of family! Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)

Handmade sweaters

For my baby shower, I was given this handmade sweater along with a blanket. I love them both so much, I just had to share some pictures of Logan in the sweater. My little man!

Time with grandparents

This past weekend I was at a women's retreat. Justin's parents came to help out with Logan while I was gone. Here are a couple pictures with them. I'm sure you can't at all tell that they are proud grandparents!?!? :)

A weekend with lots of family.

The 3 of us headed up to Phoenix the weekend before last to visit my family. Vanessa flew in from California and my grandmother (my dad's mom) was staying with my parents for the weekend. My grandfather (my mom's dad) was able to spend a few hours with us also.Logan seemed quite interested in Grammy.Logan with my dad at the dinner table.Alex with his cheesy grin :) Logan and Alex finally started paying attention to each other, talking to and just watching each other.Proud Aunt Vanessa with both of her nephews. We decided to dress up the boys in their Halloween costumes for pictures (since it was only the weekend after Halloween that we were together).Lindsey and Alex (a.k.a. Tigger)Since we were all together, I wanted to get some good family pictures.
The boys were not so interested in cooperating with us!

Logan the Bumblebee

For Halloween night, Logan was a bumblebee. Partly as a nod to the Smith family beekeeping business, and partly because the costume was only $8 at Wal-Mart :) Every year 3 families (us and 2 of our neighbors) get together for a neighborhood BBQ. We buy hamburgers and hotdogs, chips, and soda to feed a couple hundred people. This year was our 5th annual BBQ. It's become very popular in our neighborhood and we enjoy getting to know people and visit with all the kids and parents.

Our neighbor has a 5 month old little girl named Cassidy. She was a kitten for Halloween. The progression from this next picture through the one where he is asleep was all of 2 minutes according to the timestamp on my camera! He was tuckered out and it was only 6PM! We hadn't even had any trick-or-treaters. Here is my best friend Stormy along with her husband (Aaron) and kids (Haylee and Hayden). They were Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, Wendy, and Peter Pan for Halloween.

Halloween fun

I bought this outfit for Logan before realizing Justin actually wanted him to be dressed up. So, I made this his Halloween day outfit. I think he looks quite silly. He looks almost gangsta in his black owl beanie!
This is a toy I received for my baby shower. After I opened the box to put it together a few weeks ago, I realized it was missing an important part - the ring that holds the seat! After calling 3 times and receiving the fabric seat twice (so I ended up with 3 because that's the part I already had), I finally got in the mail yesterday the correct part. I finished putting the toy together and placed Logan in the seat. He had a fun time playing the piano!

4 months old

Logan turned 4 months on Sunday. Hard to believe! I took him for his 4 month appointment at the pediatrician's office. He weighed in at 13lbs 1 oz. and was 25 inches long. His height moved up to the 75th percentile curve and his weight dropped to the 25th percentile curve. Because he moved down in the weight chart, I have to take him back on November 11th to get him weighed again. If he stays on the 25th percentile curve or moves back up to the 50th, then everything is fine. If he drops to a lower curve, though, we may have to do some type of intervention (perhaps supplementing with formula) to help boost his weight. I'm not too worried since he obviously shot up in height and he doesn't act any more hungry than normal.
The other event at the pediatrician's was his shots. This round was so much better than the first round at 2 months. He cried when he got the shots, but as soon as I picked him up he stopped crying and acted like nothing had happened. He was a little more cuddly the rest of the day (which I don't mind at all!), but he ate and slept fine and was happy while he was awake. I couldn't have asked for a better shot experience!
